Archaeology Delft

Welcome to the Archaeology Delft website. We are a local government department operating in and and around the historic city of Delft in The Netherlands.

Unfortunatly we haven't translated the entire website into English. One aspect of our work however, has a distinctly international character: Delftware. This ceramic product is found all over the world and is one of the things Delft is famous for. Our research into this material has a much wider field of interest and will therefore be translated into English very soon. You can find all these articles grouped together in our dossier Delftware. For questions in relation to Delftware archaeological finds please feel free to contact the City Archaeologist This email address is being protected from spambots. In the Dutch sections of the website please visit the section Excavation and research. There are articles on important excavations and artifacts, as well as all our published research downloadable as PDF reports. The dossiers finally are thematic collections of articles, research reports and blogs on the topics Delftware (in English as well as Dutch),  the Romans, Early Delft and a large project called Spoorzone (archaeological research done in connection with the construction of a new rail tunnel through the center of Delft). We hope that despite the language barrier you will enjoy the images of the objects and excavations.
Please feel free to contact us in case you have any questions about any sections of our website.
